Red Fang video filmed at 521 Couch Street

Check out this video by Portland's own Red Fang and their single "wires", part of it was filmed above our old shop in our friend Jessica's old apartment on Feb 26th the same day we had Couchstock. It was definately a loud day from the start and police were called over during the filming by some of our favorite former neighbors. The building isn't much more than a concrete foundation and a heap of bricks now, but it's legacy will live on forever. Also please take notice of the drummer rocking a shirt from our favorite dirty little watering hole, the B-side (632 East Burnside Street).

On the note of carrying on the legacy of the Couch Street building, I am currently in the process of working on an independent film that was mostly film on location on Couch Street. Check back soon for a trailer and more info on The Couch Street Massacre.

We got our very own dark room and a nerf hoop.



Thanks to the kind management staff at the Adidas Employee store for donating this mannequin to guard our shop against lurkers. Once we start making money we'll get some sweatpants for her.



We also got a pegboard to display all of our man tools.



Of course we still got the good ole hand me down screen press. We also have our logo on the wall like an evil corporation.



there's also a couple quarterpipes just outside of our door. It really makes coming to the office a hard decision.

geeee whizz where to start?

Last week was crazy, it took me about four days to fully recouperate from the hangover of excessive partying and moving our company. After the fog of party was lifted from me, I could only begin to think of Blogging the events of last week. Here's some visual documentation of the chaos that ensued at the end of February.

Oh yea, upstairs neighbor, sorry we sent you into a late night psychotic rage, we just wish we could see the look on your face as you were screaming bloody murder at 3am, we hope to never see you again either.

which will be replaced shortly by some sad attempt to turn the central eastside into another Pearl district.

So it has been (no pun intended) a busy couple months for us

Sorry for the lack of blogage. It's not that we haven't been up to anything, we have just been busy. I hope this makes it up to you all.

We helped out our friends at Burnside out and printed the 20th anniversary shirt, with original art from Bigfoot himself. (http://www.bigfootone.com)


We threw our own Halloween party/ art installation "Nightmare On Couch Street", with original art from our friends Neil Perry and Susannah.

We took part in the Annual Adidas Holiday Craft Fair. Special thanks to our lovely part-time assistant/intern Colleen for holding down the table, while I sent out blanket texts about karaoke.

The Hester brothers of Vagabond Skateboards (vagabond.blogspot.com) came up huge with all sorts of Decks for the show. Here's Kurt looking like a shaman or some sort of holy man hanging boards two hours before the show.

It all came together last minute like it always does, but it turned out great. Thanks to all of the artists that came together to show on such a short notice. (Brian Hester, Kurt Hester, Natalie Waldref, Karyn Fiebich, Rachel Wright, Lindsey Eckwall, Kidmang aka Anh Nguyen, Kris Krandall, Beefcake aka Garret Weber, and Zachary McAferty.)

We also hosted the annual PDXellent Black Friday pub crawl along with some friends, celebrated some birthdays, and found out that we're getting evicted from our current building. Unfortunately we're not being evicted for throwing parties, but they're selling the building, most likely tearing it down, and replacing a piece of Portland's history with some generic urban development. Hopefully they'll make it something skateable. My it's been a busy couple of months and is ensured to be a busy new year. Keep your eyes posted for our next party that will probably bring the building to rubble before our move out date. Hey friends, We know it's short notice, but our building is getting torn down and we're out on the streets in two months. To kick in the holidays were having a Holiday Celebration to honor the last Hasbeen Christmas on Couch Street.
There will be a collection of artwork on skateboards (Deck The Walls II) from a small handful of local artists, some door prizes, refreshments, and more. Please join us in what will probably be a string of epic parties that may or may not demolish the building before any bulldozers arrive. We hope to see you and yours on Saturday evening (December 18th). Come tie a few off with us, the madness starts at 6pm.

Our good friend Rebecca Dant is currently very ill and needs all the support she can get. On Thursday December 16th, The Ash Street Saloon will be hosting a benefit for Rebecca with 8 bands, tons of raffle prizes, and good times all around the board. Bring your friends, all proceeds go to help out the Dants. We hope to see you there.

Scum City

Back in May, I spent a lot of time making this Portlandesque cityscape installation out of cardboard and electrical tape. A little over 5 months later, it was time for it to come down. Check out this animation that myself and my good friend (HB staff photographer) Robb Perry created in a couple days. Enjoy.

FASHION CAMP 2!

A few weeks ago Hasbeen Design was lucky enough to host Cedar Hills Recreation Center Eco Fashion Camp put on by our good friends Caitlin and Shola. This year we taught over 20 eager young fashionistas the basics of screen printing and button making. At the end of the day everyone got to take home a new HB tote and some custom swag to commemorate the wonderful experience.
